Urban Decay Vice 2 Palette

Tuesday, September 17, 2013

Urban Decay is the Regina George of holiday sets, she's always on point and everyone wants to be her (at least until Cady comes in and conquers, but I don't think Urban Decay has anything to worry about anytime soon).
Be still my heart, The Vice 2 Palette!
Like the Vice Palette, Vice 2 will be limited edition so get your pretty little hands on it as quickly as you can. This beauty retails for $59 and comes with 20 brand-spanking new, ULTRA pigmented shades, a double ended eyeshadow brush and a full sized mirror.

Isn't the packaging to die for?! UD went for an "abstract orchid design"

This magical button releases the top for the perfectly angled mirror. The only thing that could make the packaging more magical is if Ariel's voice sang to you as it slowly opened. Maybe UD will consider this for a potential Vice 3 ;)

Let's take a glace at the 20 shades in all their glory. As you can see there are 3 mattes and the rest are a perfect mixture of satins and gorgeous jewel tones. Okay, I'll stop teasing you now and get into the swatches...
*All swatches are shown on bare skin/no primer*

First up (going down the columns) we have SMOKEOUT, PRANK, RADAR & DOPE.

  •  Smokeout - rich taupey-black satin and stays true to the UD buttery formula.
  • Prank - deep navy that has flecks of turquoise pearl shimmers.
  • Radar - GORGEOUS metallic brown with iridescent micro glitters (already a favorite!)
  • Dope - a beautiful champagne pink shade.
[All four of these shadows were INCREDIBLY pigmented and blendable]

Next up we have; LOVESICK, MADNESS, DAMAGED & TOXIC

  •  Lovesick - I thought this would be a richer black. The base color is matte but it contains micro glitters. One of the less buttery/pigmented shadows in the palette.
  • Madness - incredibly bright metallic blue with blue shimmers
  • Damaged - This is a GORGEOUS shadow for fall. A perfect rich metallic emerald green.
  • Toxic - Who else though of Britney Spears when reading the name?! This is another color I've already fallen in love with. It is a beautiful pink copper metallic loaded with gorgeous micro shimmers.
[I felt that Lovesick was a bit inconsistent in UD's typical ultra smooth formulation]

 SHELLSHOCK, STRIKE, VOODOO & HABIT
  • Shellshock - The perfect NYE shadow. One of the creamiest shadows in the palette, it is a intense metallic silver. I'm pretty sure unicorn tears is the main ingredient.
  • Strike - A gorgeous yellow gold with silver and gold shimmers. We get it UD, you know your golds and we love you for it
  • VooDoo - Ursula in the form of an eyeshadow. A perfect metallic purple with tons of iridescent shimmer.
  • Habit  - Apparently my exact skin tone, haha. A SUPER nude matte.
[The three metallic shades are melt in your mouth buttery. Habit is more of a blending out or all over wash of color type of shadow]

COAX, STASH, BETRAYAL & AMBUSH
  • Coax - A baby pink with iridescent microglitters.
  • Stash -  A perfect army green color with slight shimmers.
  • Betrayal - Can we saw duochrome at it's finest?! The picture doesn't do this shadow justice. It is a vivid purple with blue duochrome.
  • Ambush - A girl can't have enough brown metallics in her collection!

[Noone was falling behind in this line, all four are PERFECTION]

Finally we have; X-RATED, POISON, DERAILED & REWIND

X-Rated - An adorable baby pink satin shadow.
Poison - A rich charcoal with slight shimmers.
Derailed - The PERFECT taupey brown with silver shimmy shimmy.
Rewind - Beautiful warm matte brown.

[These four shades together would create a STUNNING smokey eye]

Final Verdict: STOP reading this and go grab this palette now. I skipped out on the original Vice palette and wanted to kick myself everytime I saw someone using it in a tutorial.
If you're thinking "Oh those color seems awful bright/shimmery"
Nope, they're absolutely gorgeous in person and the formula is so buttery and blendable.
Urban Decay knows their eyeshadows and continues to steal my heart.

Keep a look out for some tutorials on my channel.
Thanks for reading!

xx, Danna
